This high school level directed studio class has flexibility. There is opportunity to work in the following categories, and potential mediums listed....
Drawing (pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, pastels, ink, etc.)
Painting (watercolor, acrylic, cold wax with oil, gouache, etc.)
Printmaking (linocut, block, eco prints, monoprints, etc.)
Mixed Media (multiple mediums in each project)
3-D Forms (clay, cardboard, wire, plaster, wood, etc.)
Art study and practice can be accomplished in two ways...
1) Studio Art Class
Students have freedom to come and work in a directed study based on their particular art interests. A plan is created with assignments to guide and instruct students reflecting mediums that they are especially interested in. If a student would like to grow more, homework assignments can be given to push progress and accomplish more. If a student would like to experiment with multiple mediums, versatility and adaptability is possible. Critique and instruction is a part of this intentional course. The pace is based on each student's speed. This is a great option for students who really like a particular medium and want to develop it further. This class is also flexible in length, as agreed upon by parent and instructor (with a minimum of a six week commitment).
2) Comprehensive Visual Art Course
This course is a 2 semester course designed for the student wanting a complete overview of the basics of art: elements of art, principles of design, color theory, and more. It is packed with unique projects and concepts covering a variety of mediums, exposing students to new materials and will push their creativity, develop their originality, and build their confidence. Art History is incorporated by studying past artists and enjoying current artists as we learn from each other through slideshow presentations. Advanced students will be given more challenging projects. There will be some homework, grades, and semester report summary given.
All students are in one class working on their various assignments. Most supplies are provided (extra fees for expensive mediums).
I desire students to see their potential to bring their creativity and artistic skill to their futures whether that be in an art field or life!

My home studio is located at 2656 Jims Road, Marietta, Georgia 30066. Parents enter the right side of my "U" shaped driveway where I meet students at the front door and walk them back to my studio. Parents are welcome anytime, but drop-off is preferable. Please come check out the studio on the first day (or prior). Parents can sit in the driveway to wait or run errands.
